I’m located in the small fishing village of Appledore, in North Devon. I’ve served clients from all corners of the globe, but I’m now actively looking to work with small businesses closer to home, looking for bespoke WordPress web design services.
I’m pretty sure you’ve done your research into local web design agencies and services. And if you’re happy with what you’ve found, then that’s great.
But, if you’ve just begun your search and you’re somewhat overwhelmed by what’s available, well that is a good thing too. That being said, finding the right agency that understands your website and business goals and visions can be a daunting and challenging experience.
Unless you’ve worked with a local agency before, you’ll never really know whether the result will be exactly what you’re looking for in a bespoke website.
Web design agencies are wonderfully busy places. Where teams work hard on multiple design projects and tirelessly trying to meet client deadlines.
I work primarily alone as a freelancer, however, on larger projects, I often pull together a small team of 3 or 4 (outsource). This small team usually consists of two designers/developers, a strategist, and a copywriter.
Since I work on no more than 4 design projects at any one time, I’m able to dedicate as much (or as little time) to each project, ensuring that every phase is completed on time and on budget.
Why choose me for web design in North Devon?
Small business owners are passionate folks. I’ve worked with many, so I know just how hungry and driven they are.
I’m no different. As an owner of several online businesses myself, I share that hunger and passion too. I love what I do as a web designer, and I love starting on a new project and being part of its conception, creation, and being able to watch it flourish into something truly remarkable and beautiful.
I’m passionate about my business, and I’m more passionate about seeing local businesses in the North Devon area thrive.
Whether you’re a local tradesman, or run a small coffee shop, or gift shop, having a website is more important than ever before.
Did you know that a staggering 97% of folks searched online for a local business?
That’s mind-blowing, right?
And not forgetting that almost everyone has a smartphone, so access to the internet is easier and more convenient than ever before.
So, what does this all mean?
It means if your customers cannot find you online, you’re potentially missing out on a huge amount of business.
My focus is on developing conversion-focused websites with WordPress
WordPress is a powerful CMS platform. It is also the most widely used platform in the world, making up more than 27% of the internet’s total websites. Which, in my opinion, makes it the perfect foundation for building a great looking website. Not just a great looking website, but a website that works.
Some of the big name brands using WordPress right now include The BBC, Bloomberg, Sony, and Microsoft.
My focus is on design and development. This means I create WordPress websites from complete scratch using a blank canvas.
I can work from ready-made templates, however, more often than not I choose not to, and always recommend against it, whenever I can.
Many web design agencies will use a ready-made WordPress template and customize it to the client’s specifications to save time and money. This template can then be used again on future website projects for other clients.
A template is basically a ready-made website. All you have to do is add your own content and logo design. Using a ready-made template doesn’t make your site unique whatsoever, as many other businesses will be using the same template.
I much prefer to design and create WordPress websites with complete and unlimited creative freedom, and yes, despite what you may have been told about WordPress, this is possible.
I’ve noticed that there isn’t a lack of web designers in the North Devon area, but certainly a lack of designers that specialize in high-quality, bespoke, custom WordPress websites.
Your website is much more than a place where your potential customers can get in touch with you, your website is people’s first impression of you and your business, and you want that impression to be good.
Why use WordPress
It’s extremely flexible – Meaning you can literally create any type of website you want with it, from a fully-fledged e-commerce website with thousands of pages and products to a simple plumbing services website.
WordPress was originally created as a powerful blogging platform, however, over the years it has evolved to become the ultimate website building and management software, especially thanks to the thousands of plugins and themes now available for WordPress.
WordPress websites are easy to manage – You don’t need to be a website wizard to figure out how WordPress works. For the most part, you can manage simple things like your content, pages, contact info, and blog all by yourself.
For example, if you are selling goods and accepting payments online, WordPress and the WooCommerce plugin make a great combination.
Plenty of web hosts to choose from – When it comes to picking the right hosting provider for your WordPress site, you’re really spoilt for choice. SiteGround, HostGator, or Bluehost is among the many companies that have optimized servers designed for WordPress websites.
A huge amount of support and resource – When it comes to help, support and resources, no other platform have quite as much available as WordPress. The web is crammed with WordPress tips and tricks, tutorials, and good advice. There are full-sized communities and groups, forums all dedicated to providing help and support.
