Where To Sell Your eBooks: 10 Online Platforms To Try In 2023!

Are you looking for some places to sell your eBooks online in 2023? Well, you’re in luck! In this post, we will take a look at 10 incredible online selling platforms waiting for you right now!

One of the most extraordinary feelings of accomplishment you can experience as an entrepreneur is writing and publishing your first eBook!

Who knows what lies beyond this, perhaps becoming a New York Times Bestseller on Amazon. You’ll never know unless you make a start.

Nevertheless, you don’t have to set your sights on becoming a best seller because a successfully published eBook can mean big business for you.

You feel an even greater sense of achievement when you eventually get to make your first sale.

If you’ve already journeyed through the experience of creating and selling your first eBook sale, you know the feeling I’m talking about, right?

It’s just amazing, and it makes you want to get out there and create a few more great eBooks to sell online!

Why sell your eBooks?

I get it. It’s 2023 and eBooks are in abundance. So why even consider selling your eBooks when there are already millions out there?

Because eBooks sell well, and people love to read them. This online source estimated global ebook sales to be 19% of total book sales by revenue.

According to WordsRated, 191 million eBooks were sold in 2020 alone. Now that’s no small number, right? So there is an incredible opportunity for you to sell your eBooks online.

If you’ve just finished writing your first eBook, enormous congratulations to you, really, I applaud you.

I know how much time and effort goes into creating an eBook, especially if you’ve done it completely by yourself, so add an extra pat on the back from me.

Are you ready to sell your eBook online?

When it comes to promoting and selling eBooks online, we’ve never had it so good.

I guess that’s why so many bloggers and entrepreneurs are doing great with their eBooks right now.

According to The Guardian, the pandemic has helped to drive eBook and audiobook sales up immensely!

eBook selling platforms, everywhere!

When it comes to using an online platform – if you can cast your mind back to just 5 years ago. There weren’t many great places to sell your eBooks on the web, even though eBooks were starting to get more and more popular.

Giving away your eBook on your blog or website as an incentive was just about the simplest thing you could do, and many digital marketers still do this today.

However, we don’t always want to give our eBook away for free. Sometimes, you want to create something that you want to sell, right?

You want to make some money from your eBook sales! Of course, you do. You spent weeks, maybe even months writing and editing it.

But here’s the question –

Where to sell your eBooks online?

Thankfully, today there are dozens of great platforms on the internet where you can sell your digital books and make serious money. And more of these marketplaces are cropping up each year!

So, without further ado, here are nine beautiful platforms you can use to host and sell your eBooks online in 2023 and hopefully beyond.

So, let’s dive right into it.

#1. Sellfy (Top Recommended – Best Value)

Sellfy is my top recommended choice of platform to sell your eBooks online. This is one of the easiest-to-use e-commerce solutions not just for eBook authors, but content creators looking to sell all kinds of digital products.

💡I want to be completely transparent with you. I started using Sellfy myself roughly about a year ago, and so far, I’ve been very impressed with the platform and the tools they have to offer to creators.

What can you do with your Sellfy account?

As I mentioned earlier, with Sellfy, you can host and sell more than eBooks. You can sell any kind of digital download, such as courses, subscriptions, software, etc.

You can also use the site to sell physical products such as your brand’s merchandise, using their print-on-demand feature, again, making this platform ideal for content creators.

Below, I’ve compiled a short list of things you can do with Sellfy –

  1. Upload and sell your ebooks, digital art, videos, audio, music, courses, and branding kits (PSD, AI files)
  2. Sell subscriptions
  3. Sell print-on-demand merchandise such as t-shirts, mugs, hoodies
  4. Sell physical products and more
  5. Setup a storefront with your existing domain, complete with branding and a shopping cart
  6. Advanced payment options with PayPal and Stripe integration
  7. Embeddable shopping carts
  8. Advanced Tax and VAT tools and options
  9. Advanced Reporting
  10. Marketing tools, and more.

How much does Sellfy cost?

Sellfy presently offers four plans.

Starter PlanThe starter plan includes selling up to $10K sales per year, unlimited products, digital and subscription products, connecting your domain, and email marketing. The Starter Plan will set you back $29 per month paid monthly. Or, $22 per month paid yearly. Or $19 per month paid every two years. Remember that you can save a 10% discount by using the links above. See below for more information

Business Plan The business plan includes everything in the starter plan plus up to $50k in sales per year, removal of Sellfy Branding, store design migration, cart abandonment, and product upselling. The Business Plan will set you back $79 per month paid monthly. Or, $59 per month paid yearly. Or $49 per month paid every two years. Remember that you can save a 10% discount by using the links above. See below for more information

Premium Plan – The premium plan includes everything in the starter and business plans, plus up to $200k in sales per year, product migration, and priority support. The Premium Plan will set you back $159 per month paid monthly. Or, $119 per month paid yearly. Or $99 per month paid every two years. Remember that you can save a 10% discount by using the links above. See below for more information

Fabrizio Van Marciano Readers Special Offer!

$19 per month is a great deal for a 2-year plan; however, the price gets better if you’re a Fabrizio Van Marciano reader! You can save 10% extra off any plan above if you sign up through this link. Or, use coupon code ‘fabrizio’ at the checkout!

What does this mean?

This means that a $456 bi-yearly plan would cost you $410 after the reader discount. That’s just $17 per month! That’s on top of the $264 you save going from monthly to bi-yearly. A total savings of $310, more or less.

#2. Podia (Recommended)

Podia is one of the most exciting sites to start your online business venture. They provide a complete solution for selling online, from the website, products, email marketing, and more.

As you will see you can do more than just sell eBooks. Downloads, coaching, courses, webinars, you name it. You can also use the platform to build a community and create an affiliate program to help promote your products further.

Podia is free to start using, however, the site charges an 8% selling fee, excluding the 2.9% Stripe payment processing fee. The free plan lets you create a full website with one downloadable product, one coaching product, draft courses, and more.

There are several premium plans available starting from $33 per month and a 0% selling fee.

All that said, Podia is one of the best platforms to consider using right now if you are just starting out, or you’re looking to migrate your business to an all-in-one platform.

#3. Fiverr.com

Fiverr is probably one of the most popular places on the web to sell eBooks as well as any digital product or service. It’s also one of the oldest platforms, first launched in February 2010.

The site is a great online outlet to launch your ebook; in fact, I’ve had some good sales by selling my eBooks on Fiverr in the past. Here’s an old screenshot I’ve managed to pull out of the old archives.

Note: I no longer use Fiverr to sell online.

The selling tools and features available on Fiverr are useful too. As a seller, you get a complete dashboard for managing your bio, customer communication, orders, and sales.

The only irritating problem I found with Fiverr is that you have to manually email deliver the eBooks yourself each time you make a sale, which sounds absurd, I know. However, I do believe this is one tactic the company uses to ensure sellers engage with their customers. Also, I’m not sure if this is still the case in 2023.

You also have to maintain your profile so that your gigs (listings) don’t become stagnant or deactivated after some time, which means logging in every few weeks or so.

The fact that digital products aren’t delivered automatically when someone makes a purchase can be a huge pain as an eBook seller. You have to make sure you can log in at all times to deliver digital products timely.

Price-wise, there are zero fees to actually list your products or services on Fiverr: However, there is a 20% transaction fee; you get to keep the other 80%.

If you don’t think that’s too bad, if you are selling a lot of eBooks, then you might want to compare Fiverr with Sellfy or Payhip.

There is one huge benefit of selling your eBooks on Fiverr. And that’s down to the fact that the site has a HUGE and trusted marketplace. You’re leveraging the popularity of the website and the millions of people that visit the site daily, to promote and sell your eBooks, so you have all the chance of success.

Keep in mind, though you will be competing with a lot of other authors and publishers on the same topic since the site gets a ton of traffic, you have every opportunity to make a sale of your eBook.

#4. Self Publishing on Amazon.com

Amazon is probably the most popular and largest place on the web for selling eBooks right now. In fact, Amazon’s share of the eBook market is a whopping 68%.

Now again, for complete transparency, I have never used the Amazon Marketplace to sell anything myself. I have purchased a lot of eBooks and books from Amazon in my time.

As an author, you can earn between 35% and 70% royalty for your eBooks sold on the Amazon platform, depending on your location and pricing structure.

Because Amazon is such a monumental and authoritative platform, it’s probably the most likely place for blog writers, authors, and entrepreneurs to want to sell their eBooks. They are tapping into the biggest marketplace in the solar system.

The site is also a great place to get real, verified sales feedback for your eBooks too. Of course, Amazon should NOT be the only place to consider promoting and selling your eBooks. It’s always best to use several platforms.

#5. Feiyr.com

Once again, I have had no prior experience with selling my eBooks on Feiyr.com. However, I’m adding the platform to this list as another option for you to explore.

On their website, the company states that they’ve been around since 2006, and from what I’ve learned through my own research and on online forums, they’re a great place to self-publish and distribute your eBooks.

Registration is free, however, there is a small account fee for verifying your account.

There are no monthly or yearly fees with Feiyr.com and you earn an 80% commission on sales of your eBooks. Payments are made to creators daily and aside from eBooks, you can sell music as well as physical merchandise via the platform.

#6. Blurb.com

Blurb is another great site where you create and distribute your eBooks online. It’s a complete eBook creation, promotion, and selling platform.

The options allow you to choose whether you want to sell on its platform, the Amazon or Barnes & Noble platform, and the Apple Books Store.

The site has some really cool software features you can use to create and style your eBooks before promoting them and selling them to your target audience. All you need to do is add content.

You can also create quality printed books and magazines using Blurb, should you wish to. So, if you already have an eBook and want to take it one step further, perhaps this service is for you.

You can learn more about the site here.

#7. Google Play (Books Partner Center)

If you want to make your eBooks available on the Android platform, then there’s no better place to start than Google Play Books.

With over 3 billion users in over 75 countries, you’re bound to make a great impact with your eBook here.

Getting set up is very easy. You can sign up using this link, upload your content, set your price, and begin promoting your eBook to the whole world.

#8. E-junkie

Next, we get to good old E-Junkie. This is where it all began for me as an eBook author many years ago now.

I really should stop calling myself an eBook author with just one eBook.

Anyhow, E-Junkie is the place to sell all kinds of digital downloads, not just eBooks.

The platform keeps things very simple. They don’t charge you for sales of your PDF eBooks, you only need to pay a monthly fee for hosting your eBooks.

Fees depend on how many eBooks you want to host with E-Junkie. From $5 per month, you can host and sell up to 10 digital products.

The platform offers a host of marketing tools, options, and features, including PDF stamping of your eBooks, affiliate tools, sales reports, and more.

#9. Lulu

Last but not least, we get to Lulu. Lulu is one of the oldest platforms on the web for publishing eBooks. Lulu isn’t just a great place to sell your digital books, but the site will help you format and convert your eBooks into ePub or PDF.

In addition to eBooks, you can also use the platform to create and self-publish all kinds of physical books.

Prices vary according to your customized needs. For physical books, after printing costs, you keep 80% of the revenue.

#10. Payhip.com

Payhip has been my second choice for selling eBooks online for many years. I’ve used them for many years, however, over the recent time, it would appear that there hasn’t been much progress made on the site in terms of new features.

While Payhip remains to be one of the most affordable options here, the tools lack many features and advanced options that you would otherwise find in Sellfy.

The Payhip website itself is now starting to look a little dated, sadly.

So let’s talk about what you can sell:

You can now use Payhip to sell almost any kind of digital content, from your eBooks, courses, membership, coaching, and even physical products.

The platform comes with a host of marketing tools including, analytics, marketing, discount codes, and customer management. However, many of these tools lack advanced features.

You can also create affiliates and encourage other marketers to promote and sell your digital products for you whilst earning a nice commission for themselves.

Getting paid using Payhip

One thing Payhip does right is the payment feature:

Payment is conveniently handled through PayPal or Stripe, so be aware that even though there is a small charge fee, there are also PayPal or Stripe transaction fees when selling.

So what can you sell with Payhip?

I’ve already mentioned some of the things you can sell on Payhip, but here’s a complete list –

  1. eBooks
  2. Digital art
  3. Music
  4. Physical products (Art, merchandise, t-shirts, mugs)
  5. Subscriptions
  6. Coaching (New)
  7. Online courses (New)

As you can see, you are able to sell more than just your eBooks!

Another big plus point with using Payhip is that they will also report and pay EU VAT on your behalf. Payhip is extremely user-friendly.

In my experience with using Payhip, to date, the platform has helped me to make over $1,800 from selling my eBook!

How much does Payhip cost?

When it comes to affordability, Payhip is pretty hard to beat because its pricing structure is very competitive. Here is what they have to offer –

Free Forever – 5% transaction fees, plus PayPal or Stripes regular transaction fee!

Plus$29 per month, plus 2% transaction fees, and PayPal or Stripe’s regular transaction fee.

Pro$99 per month, zero transaction fees, plus PayPal or Stripe’s regular transaction fee.

Payhip doesn’t currently offer annual plans.

What’s the alternative?

So you might be wondering, what is the alternative to using any of these tools? The best alternative is to create your own selling platform.

Wait, don’t raise your eye to the sky just yet, there are incredible benefits to creating your own platform to sell your eBooks or digital downloads. I know this because I use my own platform to sell my online courses.

Here are these benefits –

  1. No monthly subscription fee, which means you keep almost 100% of the profits.
  2. Full control over the layout and design of your store and product pages
  3. Full control over content and SEO
  4. Full control over the customer base

You can actually use WordPress with WooCommerce and a website builder tool like Bricks Builder to create a stunning online store. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to, because I can teach you here.

That’s it!

So, that’s it, it’s a wrap!

I do hope these 10 platforms will keep you busy for the time being.

It might be worth trying each one out to see which gives you the best ROI for your eBook sales.

If you’re wondering if you can sell your eBooks on more than one platform, as far as I know, there’s nothing to say that you can’t. However, it might be worth double-checking some platform’s terms and conditions pages to be 100% sure.

Don’t forget that you can use these platforms, but you must also put some work into promoting your eBooks.

I will update this post in the future when I find more great sites to add to the list.

If you happen to know of a great platform that you think should be on the list above, please click here to get in touch with me and let me know about it. Best of luck!
